Tempcon and Norrmejerier enter new long‑term partnership

Tempcon and Norrmejerier have signed a multi-year agreement covering food logistics. The new partnership includes full responsibility for temperature-controlled transport and logistics solutions within a new and evolving structure for Norrmejerier’s operations.

At the same time, Tempcon is adjusting its operations in northern Sweden to meet Norrmejerier’s new conditions and needs in the best possible way.

“This partnership is built on mutual trust and a shared view on quality, sustainability, and long-term development. We are proud to remain a strategic partner to Norrmejerier as they take the next step in their development, which also creates opportunities for us at Tempcon to further develop our operations,” says Fredrik Persson, CEO of Tempcon Norrland.

Adapted to a new logistics structure

The new logistics solution is an important part of Norrmejerier’s long-term efforts to streamline operations and reduce climate impact, while strengthening the competitiveness of dairy production in northern Sweden. The agreement follows a broader structural change within Norrmejerier.

Previously, operations were based in both Luleå and Umeå, but production is now being concentrated at the dairy in Umeå. As the structure changes, so do the requirements for logistics solutions. The agreement includes high standards for food logistics with a focus on traceability, delivery precision and climate-smart transport solutions.

“Our strength in this assignment lies in our deep understanding of Norrmejerier’s needs and conditions – not only technically and logistically, but also culturally and commercially. This enables us to deliver a solution that is both relevant and sustainable,” says Christofer Mattsson, Deputy CEO at Tempcon Norrland.

Building for the future

The new assignment is not only confirmation of a strong partnership but also a platform for Tempcon’s long-term commitment in the region. The Group now sees opportunities to establish a new terminal structure in northern Sweden. In addition, the company has decided to increase investments in sustainable transport.

Sustainability at the centre

Sustainability is a central part of both Norrmejerier’s and Tempcon’s operations. For Norrmejerier, sustainability is not only about environmental responsibility but also about contributing to vibrancy and resilience in northern Sweden. The transport solution with Tempcon plays a key role in ensuring shorter distances, energy-efficient vehicles, and a secure chain from dairy to store.

Under the new agreement, sustainable and energy-efficient transport solutions are provided, including an unbroken cold chain, high traceability and modern IT systems that meet the food industry’s stringent requirements. The new partnership strengthens the presence of both Norrmejerier and Tempcon in northern Sweden and represents an important step toward more sustainable and competitive food production in the region, says Erik Rönnberg, Head of Planning and Logistics at Norrmejerier.

“Logistics is a lifeline throughout our entire operation – from the farmer’s milk delivery to finished dairy products in stores. As we consolidate our production in Umeå, we have chosen to deepen our cooperation with Tempcon to ensure a robust, efficient and sustainable logistics flow. This partnership contributes to higher delivery precision and reduced climate impact, also for other local food producers in northern Sweden,” says Erik Rönnberg.

To take clear and long-term climate responsibility, both Norrmejerier and Tempcon are setting science-based climate targets. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global organisation that validates companies’ climate targets to ensure they align with current climate research. Norrmejerier is already committed to SBTi, and Tempcon is in the process of joining.

An important part of the partnership is Tempcon’s new Transport Management System (TMS), which will be implemented during the contract period – a crucial tool for ensuring efficiency, transparency and quality throughout the supply chain.

The collaboration with Norrmejerier is a concrete example of Tempcon’s ambition to build value‑creating partnerships and offer customised, climate‑efficient logistics solutions for a sustainable future.
