When Foodtel was founded, the business looked very different. The company offered an app that showed how temperature fluctuations affected product shelf life and best-before dates. But founder Jacob and the Foodtel team soon realised that the tool had the potential to become something even more valuable. One crucial component was missing from the chain: speed.<\/p>\n
\u201cRetailers did not want to accept the products if we had lost two days in handling. We realised that we had to get the food back onto the market faster,\u201d Jacob explains.<\/p>\n

Developing a new solution based on the industry\u2019s real needs<\/strong><\/p>\n The solution was to shift focus, act on the company\u2019s own market analysis and develop an efficient model designed around the real needs of the industry.<\/p>\n In March 2025, Foodtel launched its new marketplace for surplus lots and discounted product lines. The concept is simple but highly effective: suppliers free up warehouse space, reduce the cost of food waste and improve their bottom line. At the same time, buyers gain access to attractive product lots at prices that offer stronger margins.<\/p>\n Since then, development has moved rapidly. Foodtel has established relationships with several of the industry\u2019s best-known companies and demonstrated how a small team can drive significant change through smart digitalisation and AI-supported processes.<\/p>\n The result is a proposition that creates better conditions for both suppliers and customers in an industry where speed and precision are essential.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWithout speed, we don\u00b4t have a business\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n A decisive factor behind Foodtel\u2019s strong growth has been its partnership with Tempcon, which has been part of the journey from day one. When Foodtel handles surplus products from companies such as Danone, Valio and Tropicana, the logistics operation must be agile and responsive to ensure that the products can still be put to good use.<\/p>\n \u201cHaving Tempcon as a partner is absolutely essential to us. Because Foodtel handles urgent surplus lots, which may involve anything from short best-before dates and incorrectly labelled products to delayed inbound deliveries, orders often arrive at the very last minute.<\/p>\n \u201cBut the teams at Tempcon\u2019s warehouses also understand that these products risk being discarded unless we act. They see the value in what we do. Even though they are not part of our own company, it feels as though we have our own internal heroes on site. They are true food savers at the terminals, helping us make it happen,\u201d Jacob says.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A mutually beneficial partnership that delivers results<\/strong><\/p>\n The relationship is described as a genuine partnership in which both companies support each other\u2019s growth.<\/p>\n \u201cAs we help Tempcon, they help us in return,\u201d Jacob explains. \u201cWhenever Tempcon has surplus products or waste within its own operations, we take care of it and resell it to retailers and restaurants across Sweden. This has also enabled Tempcon to improve its own handling processes and reduce claims and waste.\u201d<\/p>\n Tempcon\u2019s role extends from receiving the products and organising them at the terminal to allocating the goods and delivering them to the buyers. Despite the high pace, the operation maintains an impressive level of consistency.<\/p>\n \u201cThey have outstanding delivery reliability. It is extremely rare for us to receive calls about something being delayed or missing. It is genuinely impressive.
