How can we create a more efficient and connected transport chain as the number of systems grows, data volumes increase and demands for transparency rise? These are some of the questions in focus when Marcel Nemer, CEO of Tempcon company Shyping, joins a panel discussion at Elmia Lastbil on 19 August.
From 19–22 August, the transport and haulage industry will gather at Elmia Lastbil in Jönköping. On Wednesday, Marcel Nemer will take part in the seminar Digitalisation – from where we are today to the future: what does the transport industry need?
Marcel will join the Systems and Data panel alongside Henrik Mossberg from Hogia and Poul Andersen from Semantic. The discussion will cover topics including system integration, standardisation, data quality and real-time information.
How do we create a truly connected transport chain?
As CEO of Shyping, Marcel works closely with the digital flows that connect transport buyers, carriers and drivers. Shyping works with Transport Management Systems (TMS), route planning and integrations that enable information to follow the transport throughout the chain.
– I believe the transport industry has more systems than it has connected flows. The problems arise primarily at the handovers: from the customer’s order to planning, from planning to the driver, and from the completed delivery back to the customer and the business, says Marcel Nemer.
For Marcel, digitalisation is therefore not about technology for technology’s sake. It is about enabling better planning, more efficient processes and relevant information for both the business and the customer.
Real-time information, automation and AI will also form part of the discussion – but progress needs to start with the fundamentals.
– Real-time information only has value if someone can act on it. And AI is an amplifier, not a cure. First, we need the right data quality, clear ownership and common definitions.

The seminar takes place on Wednesday, 19 August, from 14:00–15:30 on the Seminar Stage in Hall B. The Systems and Data panel is scheduled for approximately 14:55–15:25.
Marcel will also be available after the panel discussion for anyone who wants to continue the conversation about digitalisation in the transport industry – or discuss their own challenges and needs.
