With large terminal areas and advanced cooling and freezing facilities, Tempcon’s energy needs are substantial. That’s why reducing energy consumption and increasing the share of renewable energy is a central part of our sustainability efforts.
We have taken several important steps to optimize our energy use. By replacing refrigerants, installing energy-efficient lighting with motion sensors, and fine-tuning our cooling systems, we are reducing both consumption and environmental impact. At the same time, our electricity demand is growing as we electrify our vehicle fleet — a transition we embrace, but one that demands smart solutions.
One of our most powerful tools is the sun. Several of our subsidiaries have already invested in solar power systems, and in 2024 we produced a total of 738 MWh of solar energy — with 136 MWh fed back into the public grid. This means we are not only powering our own operations with renewable energy, but also strengthening the availability of green electricity for society at large. We are proud of this achievement.
Now that our new warehouse in Hyllinge is completed, it is also equipped with solar panels — another step toward increasing our own production of renewable energy. At the same time, we ensure that the electricity we purchase is as sustainable as possible.
We firmly believe that the logistics solutions of the future require more than isolated initiatives. That’s why we are working systematically and long-term with energy efficiency, electrification, and self-produced renewable energy — contributing together to a more sustainable transport sector.
