In early May, it became official – Sydfrys is now certified according to the internationally recognized food safety standard BRCGS Storage and Distribution Issue 4. This certification marks a significant milestone in Tempcon Group’s quality work and has already paved the way for increased collaboration within the Group.
Handling food requires precision, structure, and high quality. That’s why the BRCGS Global Standard for Storage and Distribution Issue 4 certification is such an important milestone. It boosts customer confidence and strengthens the company’s international competitiveness.
“It’s a robust and clearly defined standard that aligns more closely with our line of business than our previous certification. It sets clear requirements and is well known internationally, which helps us meet the expectations of both Swedish and international customers,” says Linus Lindstedt, IT and Quality Manager at Sydfrys.
Designed for real-world operations – and the future
Sydfrys was previously certified under FSSC 22000, but evolving demands and a growing complexity in customer structures prompted the company to shift direction. Work on the BRCGS certification began in November 2024 and proceeded at a rapid pace until the audit in March 2025. The approval was granted in early May.
“We’ve worked with strong focus and clear structure. BRCGS is more tailored to our storage and distribution operations and provides a more defined framework, which supports us both internally and externally,” says Linus.
The certification covers storage of frozen, chilled, and ambient food, as well as contract freezing – including rapid freezing – of packaged goods.
Stronger together within the Group
The process has been characterized by collaboration. Together with Tobias Lundberg at Klimat-Transport – another company within the Tempcon Group – Linus helped lay the groundwork for how other Group companies can follow suit.
“We’ve developed documentation and procedures in a general format. That allows other Tempcon companies to easily build upon our work for their own certifications. It’s a concrete example of how we work together within the Group,” says Linus.
A stronger customer offering
The BRCGS certification not only strengthens internal quality management – it also opens up new business opportunities.
“It provides a clear quality assurance that’s recognized in large parts of the world. For customers operating internationally, this can be a decisive factor when choosing a logistics partner,” Linus notes, adding:
“It’s also proof that we are a trustworthy player, that we take responsibility and continuously aim to improve – exactly as expressed in Tempcon’s vision: Together for a sustainable future.”
