Tempcon Sustainability Report 2023: Accelerating the Transition Towards Fossil-Free Transportation

Tempcon Group is reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development through concrete actions towards more sustainable logistics. The company’s 2023 sustainability report documents the streamlining of transport operations, investment in electric vehicles and additional commitments to renewable energy through its own solar panel installations. In 2023, Tempcon laid the groundwork to continue accelerating the shift towards completely fossil-free transport with its customers.

Working with its customers and through its own initiatives, Tempcon has vigorously pursued the reduction of emissions from its transport operations and minimised its environmental impact. Through investments in electric vehicles, particularly in last-mile operations, the company continues its progress towards a fossil-free fleet. Currently, the group has 17 electric vehicles—two heavy and 15 light—as well as 49 gas vehicles that help reduce Tempcon’s carbon footprint. Furthermore, Tempcon continuously works to optimise transport flows through route optimisation, combined loading, and fuel-efficient driving.

– With a vision to minimise our climate impact, our goal is to transport as much freight as possible with as few vehicles as possible. By reducing traffic on the roads, we decrease carbon emissions and thereby our environmental impact. At the same time, we reduce our costs and create profitability within the company, enabling us to continue being a leading partner for our customers in the future,’ says Christian Hallberg, CEO of Tempcon Group.

The company’s prior investments in solar panel installations have shown significant results in 2023. Tempcon now produces a substantial portion of the electricity it uses, and in 2023, the company’s own solar panel installations generated 763 kWh. In 2024, Tempcon will continue to invest in solar panels through its subsidiary Syd Frys.

– We are proud to be able to produce a large portion of the electricity we use ourselves. Solar energy is both fossil-free and renewable, which means it has minimal impact on the climate. This not only reduces our environmental impact but also increases profitability for the company and adds value for our customers and society at large,’ says Christian Hallberg, CEO of Tempcon Group.

In the sustainability report, Tempcon highlights the extensive commitment required to drive sustainability initiatives within the logistics sector. Through active efforts and investments in innovative solutions, Tempcon Group reaffirms its commitment to a sustainable future and strengthens its position as a green leader in the logistics industry.
